Reminder on YOUR story

Verena asked me to post for her :

Happy New Year to all; thank you very much to those who have already contributed to 'My First Time - How I got Hooked on Cecilia Bartoli' - and to those who will still do so. The deadline has been extended to January 31, 2012 and I hope many more of you will respond.

Luzern: 10.9.2012 - Vivaldi ritrovato - Diego Fasolis, i Barocchisti

A new Vivaldi concert with Fasolis, scheduled for next september in Luzern.
Tickets go on sale on April the 16th.

Rumors says Cecilia would have chosen i Barocchisti to join her for her next project (according to the radio speaker of the live broadcast of "Il Teuzzone" from Lausanne, few days ago: Fasolis conducted and Cecilia was there to attend the performance).
Let's see.

Semele in Paris

On YouTube you can find several adorable recordings of Paris Semele, look here:

"Ah me Too late I now repent"
"Myself I shall adore"
"No, no, I'll take no less"
"O Jove In pity teach me which to choose"
"O sleep, why dost thou leave me"

Gee.

Unfortuntely, You Tube removed the clips. I had the chance to listen to them only once: what a magnifiscent performance that must have been....thank you so much Charlotte for posting.

Russia in March

This is how ceciliabartolionline.com looks now:
I would have never imagined to find so many texts in Russian on Cecilia's official site. But this is true…

First of all, it says that Cecilia is still ill, but her health is getting better.

Next, Russian concerts got new dates:
  • Sacrificium in Moscow on March 24, 2012 (Saturday)
  • Soirée Rossinienne in Kazan' on March 27, 2012 (Tuesday)
Then, the official agenda still persuades us that there will be «Otello» on March 8, 2012, although Opernhaus Zürich states it is «Don Carlo» scheduled for the same day.

And I remind everyone of Verena's remarkable idea to make up a collection of first-time stories.

Cecilia ill — Russia postponed

Russian concert agencies have announced that Cecilia's concert in Moscow is postponed to uncertain date. Kazan' concert hall says the concert there is postponed till April 2012 due to Cecilia's laryngitis.

What a pity…
Good health to Cecilia!

Prague concert

I was at Prague Sacrificium concert last Sunday. It was a fantastic experience, of course.
Some details on program: «Parto, ti lascio» was changed for «Lascia la spina», and «In braccio a mille furie» wasn't performed at all.

I wrote a review of my own and translated it (rather roughly, so feel free to correct me) into English.
Here it is.

The concert was partly recorded by some kind people:
  1. Video of Da tempeste
  2. Video of Son qual nave
  3. Audio of Cervo in bosco
  4. Audio of Usignolo sventurato
  5. Audio of Misero pargoletto
  6. Audio of Nobil onda
  7. Audio of Son qual nave

Then, you may want to download the vocal score of «Cervo in bosco» which I set up this evening basing on a manuscript of Vinci's opera.

Book project: My First Time - How I got hooked on Cecilia Bartoli

(--- posted with pleasure for Verena. Dear friends, write something, this is a wonderful chance! ---)

After the Vivaldi-concert in Munich on June 7, 2011, I talked to a young woman and asked her whether it had been her parents who had taken her to her first Cecilia-Bartoli-concert. She laughed and explained that her parents were Rock‘n‘Roll fans. She continued to explain that when she - then a sweet sixteen - watched a TV show with Cecilia Bartoli as a guest she immediately knew that she had to see her on stage. That was 6 years ago and whenever she has the chance to listen to Cecilia Bartoli live she tries to do so.

I was so fascinated by this young woman‘s story that it inspired me to collect more ,First times‘ and to put them in a book. Wouldn‘t that make a lovely present for our beloved and adored Cecilia Bartoli ....?

So please send me your stories with your permission to publish them. The deadline is Nov. 30, 2011. You can do so by sending me an email, a letter or fax - in English, German, French or Italian - and possibly Spanish (sorry, not in Russian, Sergei!).

Please let me know if you‘d like to have your full name or only your first name, initials or a pseudonym with your story. Your age and gender, your country might be of interest ... but all that is up to you.

I‘m looking forward to your response and if you wish I‘ll keep you informed about the progress of this project.

Buchidee
Cecilia Bartoli: Einmal gehört, schon betört!
Mein erstes Mal: Wie alles begann

Russian mini-tour

This October Cecilia is giving two very different concerts in two diverse Russian capitals. This time (in contrast to 2008 when her concert was only for the select few) anyone can buy a ticket.

October 26, 2011 — Moscow, the capital of Russia
The first is «Sacrificium» with orchestra La Scintilla in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.
The prices vary from 35 to 375 euro.

October 28, 2011 — Kazán', the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan
The second is «Soirée Rossinienne» with Sergio Ciomei in the Great State Concert Hall named after Salix Säydäş.
The prices vary from 50 to 100 euro.

It is a very good decision to come to Russia next month since it is the year of cultural exchange between Russia and Italy.

One of the most difficult coloraturas ever written

I think all of us were were astonished when we listened to «Cadrò, ma qual si mira» for the first time. I dreamed to have a glance at the score… and here is just one phrase — that's all I managed to find. But it's better than nothing.

Sacrificium new edition: 3CD (2+1DVD)

It definitely seems this fall will bring us no new album, only a new edition of Sacrificium: probably just the 2CD of the DeLuxe ed. plus the DVD shot in Caserta.
Perhaps it will contain some unreleased tracks ("Chi vive am ante" is still to come, or "Cervo in bosco" who was included in 'Sospiri'): let's hope and see.

All the websites indicates Oct. the 7th as release date.

Future collaboration with Spinosi?

There's an article in French about Cecilia's collaboration with Ensemble Matheus…
I don't think I understand everything right (since I don't speak French), but I'm sure this sentence is very interesting for all of us:
«Cecilia Bartoli nous a proposé de réaliser ensemble ses principaux projets jusqu'en 2014, dont trois opéras en production scénique ainsi qu'une surprise ''révolutionnaire''».

Norma not recorded yet?

Facebook fan page of Sumi Jo says that «Norma» will be recorded this September. It doesn't necessarily mean that former news wasn't true since an opera might be recorded part by part. If we look at «La Sonnambula» booklet we see the statement that the recording took place in June – July 2007 and in September 2008. Maybe «Norma» will be «divided» as well.

Yesterday night Cecilia won a Grammy with Sacrificium.
Not in the "Best Classical Album" category, as one could have expected (the prize went to Muti's rendition of Verdi's Requiem), but as "Best Classical Vocal Performance" (among the other nominees, von Otter's French baroque arias and Genaux's Vivaldi album).

Alcina in Zürich

Cecilia confirmed Alcina though, but not for the next season. So maybe 2012/13......seems that season is going to be really full in light of the Salzburger Giulio.
Theater an der Wien didn't say this season.....but that would be three operas in one season, she never has done that before.
We have to wait like we have to wait for concerts for the next season, too.
Let us all be surprised.

No Xerxes in Vienna!

I just wrote an email to the "Theater an der Wien" to ask them, when excactly Cecilia will sing Xerxes there. They answered in a very friendly way: no Cecilia Bartoli planned this season at all!

So the information on the internet is definitely wrong. Too bad. Interesting what Cecilia will tell Didymus these days about Alcina and Otello!
