Great review website and Cecilia live on TV on 31 December

It has been mentioned here already but for those who missed that, the Berlin concert on 31 December will be broadcast live on German channel ARD and French channel MEZZO, at 17.30 H.
Cecilia sings (just) the 3 Handel arias that are also tonight in Milan on the programme.

Furthermore, very interesting to find reviews of concerts, operas and CD/DVDs is
http://theoperacritic.com/singers.php?singer=cecilia_bartoli&mode=2  (for concert reviews) or click on operas or CD/DVD for the other sort of reviews .
A wealth of information, reviews and articles, albeit not for every country she visits.

  1. Thanks a lot Ton!

I hope the concert in Milan tonight will be recorded, so maybe it will be posted on youtube. If not, we'll have to wait till 31 december.

  3. Following the various Italian press reviews, it must have been a sort of nightmare...

Has anybody talked to her ? What do you think: is she going to sing in Rome in April after that experience ?

  4. In 2004 Cecilia performed a beautiful and extensive baroque concert in Rome and the audience was the most hostile, I have ever experienced in any concert I have attended. After that I can only say: In Rome never do as the Romans do! But she survived it and more concerts after this one, so don't worry.
An austrian review ( http://www.kleinezeitung.at/nachrichten/kultur/3182160/cecilia-bartoli-bei-comeback-ausgebuht.story ) says, she left the hall with a smile on her lips and her head up -:). Brava Cecilia!!!!!
In Gramilano's review, it appears to have been only a few stupid people up in the gallery shouting and whistling while the majority of the audience loved her, how could they not.

  5. Here is the article in the Corriere : http://milano.corriere.it/milano/notizie/cronaca/12_dicembre_4/bartoli-fischi-scala-applausi-2113006130727.shtml

  7. How rude these handful grumblers are! How lousy is this idea to disturb a concert systematically!

  8. La Scala is famous for those incidents. Only a singer, who has a stable personality should sing there. Cecilia certainly does and I'm sure, she was fully aware of what could happen.
What's funny, is that those shouting idiots have no idea about baroque music or even the Mozart piece, so they were only making noise after the repertory they know -:).
Even Callas has been a target of those interruptions. A famous one was her singing Anna Bolena and with Anna's "Giudice ad Anna" she turned to the audience and to those idiots, who screamed up there (maybe even the exactly same ones screamed at Cecilia....)and turned the performance into a triumph.
Cecilia reportedly had a smile on her face when leaving the stage...........

  9. The La Scala crowd has always been like this... They boo almost everyone (Jonas Kaufmann recital a few years ago.. and they even booed Callas!!!) Most singers know that crowd is cativo lol.

  10. Indeed, if you google Virtualtourist.com Teatro alla Scala, you find a report (Nemorino) that says the super-critical audience booed everyone ,and it is written in many websites, so Cecilia will have known this and expected it to happen.

  11. I just love what Cecilia says about being booed in 'La Scala': 'It is an absolute privilege to be in the same list as Kleiber, Caballe, Callas, Abbado, Muti...' :) I love her sense of humour. :) You can read an article in Spanish here.
