More words......."My First Time - How I got hooked on Cecilia Bartoli" is out

Just in time for Christmas: The book 'My First Time - How I got Hooked on Cecilia Bartoli' is finally on the market! It is a cloth-bound hardcover of 83 pages, contains 21 very diverse, very personal stories. I was very happy to give Cecilia 'her book' after the Amsterdam concert. She was very pleased and called it 'favoloso'. If you're interested in getting a copy for yourself or as the perfect gift for that friend who already has all Bartoli-CDs and DVDs you can do so at cost price of 15 Euro. Just send me an email: vverspohl@t-online.de

  2. It was a great pleasure to watch Cecilia's suprise and joy, when Verena gave her the book! It is very interesting to come to know all these individual "first times" with Cecilia - and to understand again what combines all her fans.
Perhaps it is helpful to know, that those stories written in German, French or Italian in addition are translated into English.

Thanks for the idea and effort to realize it, Verena!

  3. Thank you, Verena, for sticking to your project and giving us insights into some fans minds and hearts. Maybe one day, there will be a new edition with even more stories ? -;)

  4. It's a fabulous book indeed. I only wished even more fans had written something, but still a treasure to behold. Of course I very respect the reasons why some did not do it. One (quite long) French story has not been translated but that makes it fun to try to understand it anyway.
Some stories are very moving but ALL 21 are very interesting. .
THANK YOU VERY MUCH, Verena !!

  5. How nice Verena, that you could present the book to Cecilia the vey day of "Santa Cecilia" ! I am eager to get a few copies. I might talk with Cecilia this evening at the Salle Pleyel about the book and your wonderful idea. Should I know a French story was not translated, I would have done that with pleasure.

    1. Hi Gil,
What would be nice then ,is to send this translation of that one story to fans requesting you to do so (if you write your email address), or to post it here or somewhere on the internet.
Of course Verena already did a great job in securing ALL the other translations, and of course the great work that went into this book and the costs she had to make for it.
She told me she has 100 copies so I hope these will be bought..

    2. Hi Ton,
Thanks for your good suggestion. It sounds fine. I will ask Verena to send the French story to me, and if its author agrees, I will translate the same into English, so that it might be available to those who are interested. In that case, I will post it here. Actually, it's me who translated GF's story into English and mine as well, in the book. I will have more time next week.

  9. Have a break and consider ... "my first time" and "hooked on" ... it's on the way to pure idolatry. Don't forget, she's human ... for shure one of the greatest ever ... she simply don't deserve such an childish way of adoration and I'm sure, she hates it. She is so polite ... "favelloso" ...

    1. Don't drag it through the dirt, Anonymus. Your words show me that you don't know Cecilia at all. And probably neither the book: they are not at all 'childish', but very emotional and partially funny stories of life.

Cecilia is not polite. She deeply respects people of all kinds, with only politeness she'd slap in the admires faces. But she doesn't, look into her eyes while talking to people, and you will find interest and respect. Qualities that you didn't show in your comment.

    2. Thank you, Charlotte :). I just wanted to post something similar, but the site crashed before I could.
Did you actually read the book, Anonymous and observed Cecilia's interaction with fans? I guess not.

    3. I find your comment rude - unless you are Cecilia, how can you be convinced "she hates it". Maybe you should consider, how much work the whole project was, especially for Verena. And how much energy and emotions the authors put in. Please never forget: you deal with people and you can hurt with words! Koile

    4. Have a break and consider: “pure idolatry”, “childish way of adoration” and “she hates it”. It’s on the way to animosity from an anonymous who is neither polite nor “favoloso” and who doesn’t deserve much adoration.

  10. If Cecilia is polite as you say, it is clear this quality is lacking to you cruelly. Who are you, so as to insult us and to know better than Cecilia herself what should be thought about this book, which is not at all meant for you and which you might have never read?

A great bravo to Verena for her fine initiative which touched Cecilia very much, as she herself said to me in Pleyel on 26th November.

  11. Thank you Verena for your fine work! Thank you for all the co-writers, too. I already got my "author's copy" and ordered a few more to give to my friends.

  12. I too ordered a number of copies as gifts to friends, and I hope further copies will be bought so that more people enjoy the book and Verena may meet the expenses.

Bravo Dominique for your “Himalaya d’émotions” describing in a most vivid and humorous way Cecilia’s concert at Pleyel on 19 December 2010, which I attented too. In reply to Ton who said your story was not translated into English in Verena’s book, I offered doing that, but when I discovered your writing full of imagery, I hesitated a little, fearing to be unable to render your literary style properly.

Hi Ton. I’m sorry for not translating Dominique’s story, as it’s more difficult than I thought.

Alright Dominique. Then let’s say I will try to translate your story and if I succeed I will post it on the forum, but I require your indulgence, as the emotion contained in your writing passes through your style which will be somewhat difficult to render in English.

  16. N'ayez pas peur, Gil, je ne parle pas un traitre mot d'anglais, vous avez d'avance toute mon indulgence...

    1. Merci Dominique, mais en plus de votre indulgence il faudra de la patience, car votre récit est quand même assez fourni.

Thank you Dominique, but besides your indulgence, it will require patience, as your story is quite long.

  18. The publication has surely interested Cecilia highly, as it has lead to something special (which I won't mention). so the accusation that Cecilia will hate it, is totally ridiculous.
